The Heart of Carnival programme offers hands-on workshops where you can explore the creative traditions behind Carnival.
Led by Great British Carnival community artists, these sessions are developed in partnership with local schools, youth groups and community organisations.
Workshops include:
A playful journey through Carnival traditions from around the world. Create masks, jewellery, drums and shakers using recycled materials while exploring the animals, spirits and symbols that appear in Carnival celebrations globally.
Join singers from across the community to perform beloved Caribbean songs. The choir welcomes both experienced and first-time singers in a joyful celebration of shared musical heritage.
Explore the powerful storytelling traditions of Jankunu / Jonkonnu masquerade, combining drum rhythms, masks, movement and folklore rooted in African-Caribbean culture.
